Motorcycle Sun Glasses

If you are riding a bike, then you need a pair of motorcycle sun glasses!  Motorcycle sun glasses are usually wrap around or goggles because they protect your eyes so well from not only the light, but also particles of sand and dust from the road.  They are a necessity, and if you wear prescription glasses most of the time, don’t worry, prescription sunglasses are readily available.

According to the Sunglasses Association of America, there are two out of the three types of  rays that your motorbike glasses need to block.  UVC rays cause little concern, as they are absorbed in the upper atmosphere and do not reach the earth’s surface.  But the UVA and UVB rays should be blocked with your motorcycle sun glasses.  UVB rays cause the most skin and eye damage, and research continues for UVA.  So when purchasing your motorbike sunglasses, or goggles, make sure that 100% of the UVB rays from the sun are blocked to prevent damage to your retina and eyeball while riding.  This is important for all types of outdoor sports, but especially for motorcycle riding because of the speed at which you are traveling.  Dust and dirt particles could easily become imbedded in your eye and cause an accident.

Sunglasses for cyclists come in a variety of colors and styles.  Wrap around and goggles are the safest because they protect the eye completely.  Prescriptions can be put into custom sunglasses for a slightly higher cost, and of course if you have a flip-down protective shield, that is great!
