Motercycle Sunglasses
Motercycle sunglasses are a necessary accessory for the motorcycle rider, even more than the snow skier or sled rider. This is because the glasses also act as a protector against the particles that are in the air and especially on the streets. Bikers are traveling at speeds up to 70 mph and they cannot afford to have a spec of dust blow up into their eye. Goggles, glasses, and helmets that are made with a shield are a few of the choices available from many different manufacturers. When purchasing motercycle sunglasses, choose them according to the benefits they provide rather than appearance.
Whether you need prescription or photochromic, or even polarized you can find hundred’s and hundred’s of styles on the Internet. The most significant reason for sunglasses is to block the harmful UV rays that are emitted from the sun. Three types of invisible rays come from the sun: UVA, UVB, and UVC. The UVC rays are absorbed in the atmosphere and never reach Earth and our eyes absorb the UVA as far as we know, so it’s the UVB that need to be blocked from our eyes. UVB rays can cause cataracts and other eye problems with excessive exposure. Motercycle sunglasses must block 95% of UVB rays to be effective. So look for this factor.
The second most important factor is the eye protection that sunglasses provide. Wrap-arounds, goggles, of flip-down helmets also provide a block for dust and dirt that flies off the road. The more snugly your glasses fit – the better the protection. Buy for comfort and durability, and ride safely.
